What is occupational medicine?
Occupational medicine, or otherwise known as occupational health, focuses on the prevention and treatment of work-related injuries or illnesses. As such, occupational medicine doctors concentrate on the health, safety, and performance of the employees of any given company. Through our occupational medicine services at Clio Urgent Care, we can coordinate with your business, occupational health and safety professionals, benefits providers, and your employees to ensure that your workplace is as safe as possible.
What kind of occupational medicine services do you provide?

- Body fluid exposure testing, monitoring, and treatment
- Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification examinations
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing

Upon request, we are happy to provide additional services as needed. Give us a call to discuss what additional services you require, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
What are the benefits of occupational medicine?
Occupational medicine is beneficial for both employers and employees! For employers, occupational medicine helps keep your employees healthy and productive. Our occupational medicine programs at Clio Urgent Care can help keep your employees healthy by performing health risk assessments through our physical exams, providing referrals for nutrition, fitness, or weight loss programs, and through our exceptional return-to-work programs for injured or sick workers. If you are an employee, we will put your health first, and ensure that you are doing everything within your means to get healthy in both the short-term and long-term so that you can continue to provide for yourself or your family and live your life unhindered by illness or injury.
What is involved in a pre-employment physical?
The full extent of any pre-employment screening will mostly depend on the specific job requirements for the employer that is requesting the examination. If your prospective job involves extensive physical activity, your exam might include tests that evaluate your physical ability, stamina, strength, and heart and lung health. If the job consists of a lot of mental strain, the screening may evaluate your psychological fitness and how well you perform mentally under pressure. If the job involves both, your physical might include assessments of your mental endurance when you are under physical stress. Also, almost every pre-employment exam will consist of drug and alcohol screenings. If you require a pre-employment physical, you can discuss with your occupational medicine physician the details of what will be involved in the physical beforehand.
